Borne is a member of the following organisations.
Borne is a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and agrees with our sector’s principles and position with regards to:
- awarding grants through open competition with external peer review;
- the management of any conflicts of interest in the funding of medical research;
- our support of research in universities;
- and our position on using animals in research.
We endorse AMRC’s position statement on supporting research in universities (http://www.amrc.org.uk/sites/default/files/doc_lib/2004_10%20Statement%20on%20supporting%20research%20in%20universities.pdf). We will not normally meet the full economic costs of the research we support, but will work with our grant-holding institution Imperial College, to ensure our awards are eligible for C stream funding from the HEFCE.
We are a non-commercial Partner of the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN). Research conducted with patients at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital will be eligible for NHS infrastructure support including funding of dedicated skilled research support staff to assist with study recruitment and follow-up, and accessing NHS services such as pharmacy, imaging and pathology.
Borne is a member of the Institute of Fundraising.
