David Badcock

Chief Executive

David Badcock is our Chief Executive, accountable to the Chair of the Board of Trustees. Before joining Borne, David was the Chief Executive of Drug Science, the leading independent scientific body on drugs in the UK, working to provide clear, evidence-based information without political or commercial interference.Previously David was the Chief Executive of Mainliners, a national drug treatment charity providing services that focused on harm reduction and preventing the spread of blood borne viruses. David’s work in the charity sector spans over 21 years. During this time, he has also been a committee member for the Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum, Chair of The Alliance and scientific committee member for the influential London Joint Working Group for Substance Misuse and Hepatitis C. David specialises in creating unique partnerships with organisations and companies who share a joint vision to help the most marginalised and vulnerable members of our communities.

Prudence DiStasio

Philanthropy Manager

Prudence DiStasio is our Philanthropy Manager. She has a passion for philanthropy and wealth of experience in relationship building – she enjoys fostering connections and aligning donor’s interests with the needs of the charity. Before joining Borne, Prudence worked in philanthropy for the arts sector, where she honed her fundraising skills at institutions such as the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal College of Music, and the Royal Opera House. Although her love for the arts still runs deep, she developed a strong interest in other charitable causes, particularly health and the environment, driven by a shift in priorities and a desire to make a meaningful impact, she transitioned into the research division. Prudence is a certified yoga instructor and is currently working towards her CIBTAC Level 3 Certificate in the Principals of Cosmetic Practice.

 

Celine Hotonnier

Finance & Operations

Celine is our Head of Finance & Operations and is responsible for the financial, administrative and organisational support to the Chief Operating Officer and Executive team, enabling the effective running of the charity.

Celine worked as a senior member of the Finance team at St Paul’s Cathedral for over 20 years, managing the Fabric grants and finances of four trusts which fundraise for and make grants to the Cathedral, and then took on the role of Finance Manager at Campaign Bootcamp, before joining Borne in May 2020.

Julie Shield

Director of Fundraising

Julie Shield is our Director of Fundraising and is responsible for income and communications at Borne. Having started her career in the City, Julie then transferred to the charity sector and now has over 13 years’ experience in leading diverse teams within the space. She has worked at senior levels within several pregnancy and baby charities, including Bliss and the National Childbirth Trust. Julie is also a Trustee at Autism Unlimited; a charity that supports and empowers autistic children, adults and their families and is driven by a firm belief that every child should have the support and chances to fulfil their potential.

Julie specialises in strategic development and implementation, and has extensive experience in building relationships that align donor and corporate interests with the needs and vision of the charity.
