If you are a UK taxpayer, we can reclaim the basic rate of tax you have paid on your donation – which increases its value by 25%! That means a donation of £100 can be worth £125 to Borne.

what is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a government-run scheme that allows Borne to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on your donations. To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax must at least equal the amount Borne, or any other charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs, claim in the tax year. However, if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on your donations, it will be your responsibility to pay any difference.

how do I claim gift aid?

The easiest way to claim Gift Aid is to tick the Gift-Aid box when you’re donating online – we’ll do the rest for you! Alternatively, you can fill out our Gift Aid form online.

higher rate taxpayers

if you pay a Higher Rate of income tax (40% or above), you could be entitled to a tax rebate on your donation, worth the difference between the basic rate of tax and your higher rate. This extra could make a real difference to your donation. In order to claim and donate your rebate, you can contact your local tax office and reclaim the tax on your donations using a P810 form.

gift aid and fundraising

If the people donating to your fundraising efforts are UK taxpayers, we can claim Gift Aid on their donations, making the funds you raise worth even more! To make sure we’re able to claim this additional income:

• Use Just Giving to collect your donations. They will ask your donors about Gift Aid and collect it automatically for Borne.
• Use our sponsorship form for offline donations, and ask your donors to tick the Gift Aid box if they are eligible. We can’t claim Gift Aid without the donor’s full name, first line of address and post code. Mail the form to: The Borne Foundation, 3rd Floor, 315-317 New Kings Road, London SW6 4RF.
