The Scummy Mummies, Helen Thorn and Ellie Gibson are Hiking to Everest Base Camp and breaking a Guinness World Record all in aid of raising money for Borne.

The comedy duo joined forces in 2013, and since have gone on to producing an award-winning podcast, a sell-out touring comedy show, a popular book and more. 2023 marks ten years since Helen and Ellie met and more that 250 podcast episodes, 500 sold-out comedy shows, and 17 suitcases of catsuits later, they are going to be scaling to new heights.
In March 2023, the Scummies took on an epic challenge of trekking to Everest base camp and performing the highest-ever stand-up comedy gig at base camp performing their jokes over 5300 metres. They were able to raise over £15,000! Their hard work and dedication have touched our hearts and will significantly impact our research into premature birth.

This was all in aid of raising money for Borne, a charity close to their hearts, as Ellie’s son Joe was born nine weeks early in December 2014. Today he’s a healthy, happy little boy, but not every child is so lucky. The money raised will help support the research into premature birth and find the answers, improve care and save lives. Because no baby should be born too soon.
