Passion and creativity are all you need to fundraise for Borne. Read this page before you get started to make sure you’re making the most of your fundraising journey – we’re here to help every step of the way!

10 steps to fundraising success

1. set up your page

It only takes a few clicks to set up a page on JustGiving!

2. personalise your page

Explain what you are doing and why it matters to you – don’t forget to add photos!

3. set a target – aim high!

Pages with a target are more likely to raise funds and keep you motivated. If you reach it – raise it!

4. make the first gift

Get your fundraising off the ground by contributing first – it will encourage others to join.

5. ask your close circle

Rally your friends and family members with a personal email, text or phonecall.

6. mobilise your network

Build on the messages you sent your inner circle to email your colleagues and contacts.

7. share on social

Tell the world what you’re up to – and make sure to tag @bornecharity!

8. ask and ask again

Don’t be afraid to remind people multiple times! The more you ask, the more you will raise.

9. thank your donors

Let your donors know how much their generosity means to you and to Borne.

10. it’s not over yet!

20% of donations come after the event – make sure to update everyone about how you did!

maximise your impact

Your fundraising can go further – make every penny count!

UK taxpayers can increase their donation by 25% at no extra cost with Gift Aid – and it’s easy to collect it from your supporters!

  • Use Just Giving to collect your donations. They will ask your donors about Gift Aid and collect it automatically for Borne.
  • Use our sponsorship form for offline donations. We can’t claim Gift Aid without the donor’s full name, first line of address and post code. Mail the form to: The Borne Foundation, 3rd Floor, 315-317 New Kings Road, London SW6 4RF.
Many companies run match-funding schemes for their employees - which could double the total you raise!

  • Talk to your employer about match-funding all or part of your fundraising efforts – it’s a great way for them to increase brand visibility and employee satisfaction, and could also encourage individual donors to give more to your campaign!
  • Look into match-funding platforms like Benevity, Charities Trust, CyberGrants or Giving Force.
